Marsh Mint Melange

   For the Marsh Mint Melange tea, I wanted to create another amazing summer tea for all of you and began thinking back to the best summer teas I’ve had in my life. I was reminded of Moroccan Mint tea and iced green tea from Starbucks and thought—why not combine them?! As I was studying the different forms of green tea, I started to imagine the Disney movie “Princess and the Frog” from all the yummy green plants and herbs in this tea which reminded me of the lush bayou. It also reminded me of the peat bogs in Northern Europe and how important they used to be to sustaining life from providing fire to being intricate ecosystems of their own.

   With these ideas in mind I combined Young Hyson Green Tea with peppermint and spearmint, then added a dash of lemon peel to resemble the fireflies drifting in the balmy marsh air.  This tea is a great afternoon pick-me-up as it contains caffeine but not enough that you will feel jittery. Plus, the mints provide a cooling effect on a hot day, so this is an all around perfect summer tea! Grab the book “Where the Crawdads Sing” and mix up a batch of this with honey then pour over ice. Pull up a chair on your porch and relax as you listen to cicadas and enjoy a magical southern summer evening!

  This tea contains Young Hyson Green Tea with Spearmint, Peppermint and Lemon Peel. Add 1-2 tablespoons to hot water, steep for 5 or more minutes (Not too long as Green Tea can get bitter) and add mint or lemon to taste before pouring over ice and enjoying.

   This tea is packaged in accordance with Texas Cottage Food Laws and uses all food-safe herbs and tea. We are not medical professionals or doctors so none of our products are intended to treat or diagnose. There are no known allergens in this tea but there is always a risk that you are individually allergic to one of the ingredients. Because of this, we list every ingredient we include and ask that you read the ingredient list and speak to your doctor about any contraindications with your medical regimen or if you are pregnant or nursing.

   What you receive with your order: 6 oz, 4 oz, 1 oz or 1/2 oz of a loose leaf food-grade black tea, a 100% cotton muslin reusable tea bag, and a small, dishwasher safe spoon (with the 6 and 4 oz sizes or our tea sampler boxes.) The spoons vary in colour from silver to gold to copper and are chosen at random. We urge you to wash out the muslin tea bag and re-use it over and over for your loose leaf tea, bath tea or other uses. As for the packaging, the kraft bag we use at this time is not compostable but we are working on finding the perfect packaging in the future that will be better for our planet. However, the aluminum tin we use for the sample size could be used to store more tea or any other crafty home uses you can come up with.
